Now that it’s New Year’s and the school year resumes tomorrow… it’s time to start thinking ahead to what’s coming down the pike. Continue reading

In The Background
So, against the backdrop of trying to get the Monster toilet trained this week – an activity that, as you’ve all been aware, is going kind of in fits and starts – I’ve been spending a good amount of time with the kids. Continue reading
Into Every Life…
You get a good streak going, and then something comes along to throw a kink in it all…
On Wednesday and Thursday, save for the (very rare) little trickle, the Monster succeeded in not having an accident – he’s even been getting through the night dry. To me, this is a massive success, and is perhaps the longest single streak we’ve had since we started trying to toilet train. Continue reading
Semi-Snow Day
Not that I’m quite blaming the weather service for getting this one wrong, but when they say ‘mix turning to rain by morning’, you’d like to think they’d be right. Continue reading
Vacation Day Two
You might all just reconcile yourselves to the fact that most of my posts over vacation are going to probably be about toilet training. 😉
Yesterday was not his best performance – we missed far more often than we hit. Continue reading
Vacation Fun?
Now that we’re into the week where I’m actually not going to work… it’s time to concentrate on toilet training.
Now, according to his general education teacher, he’s very successful in school with going to the bathroom and not having accidents – the problem is at home. We’re not having consistent success. Continue reading
One of THOSE Posts
And again, everything comes back to poo.
Obviously, one of our ongoing frustrations – and not an uncommon one for parents in our situation – is getting the Monster toilet trained. While his IEP includes this as a goal, so we’re not going it alone, this is something he needs to master at some point if we have any hope of his getting mainstreamed down the road. Continue reading
More Hit Than Miss
For the last two whole days, the Monster has been living in a single set of underwear.
As I write this, he’s finally had to be changed – we finally had a miss after going more than forty-eight hours without a single accident. This has been through going out of the house to various places, to school and back, and even through the overnight hours. Continue reading
Two Steps Forward, One Step Back
Almost feels like we’re doing the cha-cha, when you think about it.
As we keep circling back to it, one of the IEP goals for this year is getting the Monster toilet trained. I think that if we can get this done before the end of his school year, we’ll all call it a raging success, especially since we’ll be down to only one child who needs diapers. Continue reading
Potty Progress
It’s actually been two weeks since the last time I discussed how this is going.
We’ve been having a mixed bag with the progress on teaching the Monster to use the potty – there’s days where we’ll hit a few times in a row, and then we’ll have a whole string of misses, with him wetting/soiling himself without getting him to the potty in time. Continue reading
