This is the third week of the Monster’s public schooling.

The bussing issue seems to be resolved for the time being – we haven’t had any repeats of the obscenely long bus-rides AM or PM.  (I do know the bus was late, by 5 minutes, one morning this week to the school, but that’s not bad considering they were 20 minutes late here.)  I’m “content” that this has been resolved, or that I can start turning the screws again to get it fixed. Not Quite the Magic Schoolbus

Sorry for not posting as usual this weekend – I decided to take a break and spend as much of it with my family as I could, rather than worrying about blogging. 🙂

Anyway.  So, I wrote last week about our disaster with bussing (see I Aim to Misbehave) on Tuesday afternoon.  I was very happy, as I wrote, with the school system’s response to the issue and how they took me seriously when I complained about it. Continue reading

I am altering the deal. Pray I don’t alter it any further.

As I’ve more than alluded to, the Monster’s first IEP meeting was not a process that I particularly care to repeat anytime soon.

I was informed by our advocate that the average IEP meeting takes about two to three hours.  I was told by the dads’ support group members that a five hour IEP meeting is not particularly unheard of for a first-time through the process… Continue reading

Sometimes, It Is About Me

So we’re part way through the summer – if I read my calendar right, we’re about seven weeks from the start of the Monster’s first year of public school.  (And that’s weird enough to think about.)

The other thing that happens over the summer is that my employer announces the latest slate of employees who have been selected for our in-house leadership-training program.  Unlike last year, I didn’t bother to do more than scan the message to see if anyone from our office was selected.
